Lenovo has not too long ago unveiled Lenovo K3 Note, essentially it’s a predecessor of the Lenovo K3 smartphone that was introduced last year.So let’s find out more about it in our Lenovo K3 Note Review.

Design & Display

Lenovo K3 Note (k50-t5) comes with a 5.5-inch display that provides 1080 x 1920 pixels of resolution and great image quality having a pixels density of 401PPI. Lenovo, in addition, has made use of IPS screen panel in K3 Note, however, there is absolutely no screen protection whatsoever. Lenovo K3 Note supports 71.7% screen to body ratio and, in addition, it facilitates multitouch functionality on the screen panel.

The K3 Note incorporates very thin bezels, it’s just 8mm thick and weighs about 150grams. It comes with yellowish and Whitened color back panel manufactured from polycarbonate and houses a peculiar, round Lenovo logotype at the middle.

The power/lock and volume buttons are placed on the right side and there’s nothing on the left side of the phone. On the top part of the phone, you will find USB charging port and 3.5mm audio jack port and the microphone is on the bottom side.

At the back, you will find 13 megapixels camera along with dual-tone LED flash at the top left corner along with loudspeaker on the right of the rear panel. On the front side, there is 5megapixels camera on the top, at the center and 3 capacitive control keys are on the bottom of the screen panel.

Performance

One of the amazing things about modern smartphones is that you can get some crazy processing power in a bundle that will cost lower than $200. The Lenovo K3 Note is also an example of the same.

The Lenovo K3 Note is driven by a 64-bit Oct-core Mediatek MT6752 processor and that is clocked at 1.7 GHz Cortex-A53 along with 2 GB of RAM and Mali-T760MP2 GPU under the hood.Together with the 2 GB of RAM and 64-bit processor the K3 Note provides very smooth performance and enables to use multiple apps without any lag.

It comes with 16 GB of internal storage option which can be further expandable up to 32 GB via micro SD card.

When compared with phones running Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 615 CPU, the performance is similar. Another good bit regarding the K3 Note is that it runs pretty cool.

For graphics while playing games like Asphalt we didn’t notice any kind of lag it all went smoothly.

Software

Lenovo K3 Note provides a very customized build of Android 5 Lollipop which is enhanced with the Vibe UI. This obviates the need for the regular Android app drawer and makes way for apps and widgets on the home page only which spans on multiple pages. It is differentiated with stock Android since UI behaves more like iOS on the iPhone than Android.
Despite such adulteration, there’s quite a liking for such UI among the users.

It pioneers in the market to possess Dolby Atmos for phones which stimulates Dolby’s object sound system found in theaters. It is efficient enough while playing movies.

Apart from all this, Lenovo apps like ShareIt and SyncIt are quite handy. However, the major drawback is only in terms of duplicity of apps, for instance, availability of two Web browsers – Google Chrome and UC Browser.

In nutshell, it has proved worth for money, although Lenovo is advised to reduce preloaded app on its phones.

Battery Life

Among the key features of the K3 Note is its huge battery. It comes with a 3,000mAh battery, that provides amazing battery-life. In general usage, we observed that the phone was able to last around 15-16 hours with medium to heavy usage, however, it was mostly with a mixture of 3G and Wi-Fi.

Our day to day usage includes around 2 hrs of calls, 45 minutes of music streaming, 15-20 photographs and all this happens while we have a couple of active e-mail accounts, a couple of social media accounts plus WhatsApp. We furthermore streamed plenty of video on YouTube, viewed Avengers to evaluate Dolby Atmos and played games such as Nova 3 no less than 45 minutes daily.

Many people describe this as heavy usage and if you begin your day at 8 AM, odds are with marginally lighter usage, there will still be about 5-10 % battery the next morning at 8. Nonetheless almost always, the phone can last you through an entire work day and you will certainly not need to carry around a battery pack or a charger.

Camera & Connectivity

Lenovo K3 Note provides the users with Dual SIM wherein SIM 1 supports 4G LTE only whereas SIM 2 is restricted to only GSM network; that means it will support 3G network bands internationally. Additional features comprise of Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, hotspot, Bluetooth 4.0, GPS, HM, and USB. It also provides for active noise cancelation with dedicated mic connectivity features and accelerometer, gyro, proximity and compass sensors.

What further makes it attractive is the 13 megapixels rear camera with dual-tone LED flash. Other camera features include touch focus, face detection, HDR, panorama, autofocus, and geo-tagging. Moreover, it enables the users to take better selfies and enjoy quality video calls with its 5 megapixels front camera.
